“20% of principals surveyed report having no arts program in their school.”
"It can always be denied, but it can always be proven that arts education enriches our lives with social, cultural and emotional benefits. The arts are about connection, to our inner-selves, the larger world, other cultures as well as our own. It is up to administration to set the minimum standard for all schools, while also creating goals to reach beyond the basic level provided." (IAA)
Hiring Outside Consultant
“Hiring an outside facilitator or consultant to help you with some or all of your arts planning program process can be a good investment. Consultants can not only motivate a planning team, but they are also required by contract to keep program moving forward. In addition, they can provide general guidance and suggestions on the process, gather research, and support materials, resolve conflicts and keep the group focused on the big picture rather than personal agendas.” Illinois arts alliance: Committing to Quality in Education.
An Arts Consultant can provide great insight into the development of a curriculum.

The following strongly suggest the reasons why an Arts Consultant can improve your chances of an overall successful arts program, as well as reveal how SAI will benefit you and your team with in the process.

What does an Arts Education Plan consist of?
A lot of dedication toward the cause, which include time and joint efforts, but to see the results is EXCITING!
“An action plan for arts education sets specific targets for implementation of the vision (granted that there is a vision already in place) if not then the first step is to obtain a vision. Then set specific goals. The reason why this is important is because the planning team should build on the foundation of their joint vision to clarify specific needs for arts education. Again it all takes time and patients along with effort but the outcome is that there will be greater “consistency and, hopefully, efficiency and effectives in your arts education program.”
Typically a successfully planed Arts Education Plan will cover a period of generally around 3-5 years.
Here are some very vital questions to help you determine your goals:
- What do we want to accomplish in the next 3-5 years to achieve our vision? (Which should be realistic as possible). What will we do and not do?
- What are the top arts education priorities for the school? Distract?
- What are the expected outcomes if we successfully achieve the stated goals?
There are also steps to discuss as to achieve the stated goal; which multiple strategies will likely need to be developed for each goal.
It is important to recognize the School Improvement Plan (SIP) as an appropriate place for considering arts education.
It is important to set a realistic time line and there should be team members and others if necessary to be given assignment and are needed to ensure the goals and strategies are being given the attention they need to come to fruition.

Original Art Prints are of a creative process that consist of using the original image and then using the computer to alter the original work. This is why the artist refers to them as "Where Tradition meets Modern Technology." Not all of Flowers originals are created this way and are usually specified.
